I really need to be one of the five hundred people on this planet that Snoop Dogg calls “nephew,” because having a rich uncle with his own table at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles would really improve my quality of life. Nipsey Hussle is probably the only “nephew” who could actually pass for Uncle Snoop’s kin (see the resemblance?) and he’s definitely the only up & comer who’s capable of bringing out the very best in the aging Doggfather. “Gangsta’s Life” is some of that top back, creepin’ slow, west coast bizness that stinks like blunt smoke and makes you wanna drop out of school and go find trouble.
Nipsey & Snoop -Gangsta’s LIfe
Hit the jump for another new one from Nipsey and Drake.
Snoop isn’t the only one jumping on the Hussle bus, rap rookie of the year Drake, has also been generous with his praise of Nipsey’s grind. Last week, out of nowhere, Drake dropped off this “Killer” collabo on his blog.
Drake feat. Nipsey Hussle -Killer
The hook–like that cut above with Snoop–is a really strong sing-along, but I hate to say, Nipsey stole the song in the first line of his verse.
“Before rap my last name was my lifestyle/and when I visualize success it look like right now”
If things keep going the way they are, then Nipsey won’t just be the next face of West Coast gangster rap (sorry Glasses Malone, Jay Rock & Bishop Lamont) he’ll have to change his name to Nipsey Chillin’ because he’ll never have to hustle again.
