afxjim Plays Us A Story

I need more of this music in my life. I need more music that tells a story in sound, where crescendos and decrescendos depict rises and falls, where found sound creates an atmosphere for the stories to meander, and where lyrics are rarely heard and thus, have a much larger impact than consistent singing. afxjim comes to us out of thin air and his presence is absolutely stunning. Each song is a journey in distorted reality, where natural landscapes shift in shape and subsequently shift your frame of mind. You can hear experimental folk that resembles a much calmer Akron/Family, but there’s also an ambient pastiche that builds these songs into strikingly vivid stories, but ones that exist on an entirely different plane than what we live on. And, though it may seem like these stories are a little ungrounded or out of this world, don’t be surprised how lovely you’ll feel when your feet lift off of the ground and you’re actually floating in space.
