Little Jungles

Sounding a bit like Panda Bear, with their spastic delivery of reverb-heavy vocals that offer concise doses of advice, Little Jungles whips up a very straightforward pop song called “Blue Heron.” But, rather than the white-boy club beats of Panda Bear, Little Jungles revolves the song around guitars resembling a shoe-gazey, yet upbeat version of Bruce Springsteen. And, of course, they douse that uplifting, fist-pumping flame with gallons of reverb and distortion. But, somehow, those guitars and other swells of sound buried beneath still manage to flicker, keeping you at the edge of the fire, hoping it will roar once more. And, though it never does, the embers that glow are equally as intriguing, if not more, as those melodies below. If you dig “Blue Heron,” you may dig “Turn To Me,” a 4/4 foray into bedroom pop and, though it doesn’t veer from a straight line, it’s a bubbly wash of airy pop that adds a bit of sunlight to the hazy winter ahead.Little Jungles – Blue HeronLittle Jungles – Turn To Me
