Something Below The Surface

The dilapidated floorboards creak with every tremulous step down the hallway. A faint tapping sound slowly gathers in intensity. You attempt to ignore it, but soon that tap becomes a knock and your teeth begin to freeze from fear. For the past few years, Sacramento, CA’s Sister Crayon has been tapping beneath our feet, churning below the surface like molten lava. But, in just the past few months, those taps have fractured the floorboards and on February 22nd, their haunting spirits will break through with the release of their debut album, Bellow. To prepare for the release, Abram Pineda-Fischer created a video for album opener, “I’m Still The Same Person” in which the embodiment of death is captured in a frail, staff-wielding girl. Not sufficiently creeped out? Listen to the remix from Southern California’s Free The Robots where the acid-jazz smokiness rivals the wraithlike warmth of the original.Sister Crayon – I’m Still The Same Person (Free The Robots Remix)Bellow is out February 22nd on Manimal Vinyl
