They stumbled out single-file from their temporary home on wheels and blinked away the Friday morning sun.

Inside Different Fur, a collection of fresh, high-pitched lasers, squiggly synths and grouchy bass lines formed the bones of “Little Man” as Yukimi Nagano’s creamy voice relieved any lingering concerns over half-filled bank accounts, desirable fast cars, proper bling and assumed responsibilities. The room and all its contents were at a perfect, mellow stance.

Afterwards, leaning against a shady tree, drummer Erik Bodin spoke quietly, “San Francisco is the city in the world where I feel most at home—not because it’s similar to my home, but because of the way this city…well, I can’t even begin to describe why.”

And he doesn’t ever have to.
