In The Spring Of 2023, UC Berkeley Will Offer A New Course On Nicki Minaj, And The Musician Says She’d “Love To Stop By”

For the spring 2023 semester, the University of California, Berkeley will offer a course on Nicki Minaj. The semester-long course, “Nicki Minaj: Hip-Hop and Feminism,” will discuss the artist’s impact on hip-hop music as well as how it relates to “broader historical-social structures and hip-hop feminisms.”

The professor of the course indicated in a series of tweets that are now protected that the students will “think critically about [Minaj] and [her] productions w/in the context of broader historical-social structures and hip-hop feminisms” during the course.

According to the professor, “having Minaj’s personal insights would be AMAZING.” Minaj herself responded to the news by commenting on the tweet, stating that she would “love to stop by.”

A Nicki Minaj-themed course titled “Nicki Minaj: The Black Barbie Femmecee & Hip Hop Feminisms” will be offered at Berkeley in the spring of 2019. The course’s professor, who goes by the Twitter handle peace and love el henson, PhD, also responded and confirmed this.

Minaj is not the first famous person to be the focus of an academic course in recent years. At San Diego State University, Bad Bunny recently received his own course, and Texas State University students can sign up for a Harry Styles course for the fall semester.
