In This New, Expanded X-Factor Audition Video, Watch Harry Styles Perform Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister”

The release of Harry Styles’ complete audition from “The X Factor” may not be quite the same as it once was, but fans are nonetheless being given a dose of One Direction nostalgia.

The British reality singing competition released an expanded version of Styles’ 2010 audition on Saturday. His placement in the program’s boy band One Direction helped launch him to fame and helped launch the boy band to success.

The longer tape reveals that the Grammy-winning singer first performed “Hey, Soul Sister” by Train for judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, and Nicole Scherzinger, even if Styles’ performance of Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely” may be the part of the audition that fans remember him for.

Although the judges gave the energetic pop rock song a chance, they weren’t really impressed. “I don’t know whether it’s the track that’s throwing you, but can I hear something just you, without any music?” Cowell questioned Styles after his rendition.

With their approval of the “As It Was” singer’s rendition of “Isn’t She Lovely,” Cowell and Scherzinger advanced him to the competition’s next stage. “With a bit of vocal coaching, you actually could be very good,” Cowell said. Have a look at the clip below.
