Continuing The Bins and Yours Truly’s ongoing New Adventures mix series that features original vinyl rips of the samples used to create each track on The Bins new Every Second of the Night EP. Today’s mix features the music that inspired the cut “Darling,” which you can listen to alongside The Bins “New Adventures Vol. 4″ below.

From The Bins:

My younger brother Shane and I used to live behind Amoeba Records in Berkeley. Just about every day coming home from summer school I couldn’t resist popping in to dig. I’d tell myself I’d just look for a few minutes and only buy something if it’s a major find. Hours later I’d find myself walking out the door with a grip of LPs and buyers remorse. I got to know Amoeba’s collection really well. Shane isn’t a DJ, just a music lover, so he’d occasionally pick up some records too. When he took off for a job in the Dominican Republic he left behind all his vinyl, and this Smokey Robinson record was one of them. I had never seen it before, so I was pretty excited to play it. He does a really cool cover of “Yesterday” on there. It starts out with these spooky acapella harmonies that I knew I had to use somehow. I was having trouble ending the song, so I tried placing the acapella intro as the outro, and it gives it some nice resolution; it’s an intro as an outro! This is by far the oldest song on the record, I had been working on it since 2006. The sampling on it is probably the best on the EP, I’m pretty pleased with the way it came out and glad that both Smokey and my brother are part of this track.
