U2’s Bono Will Go On A 14-City Book Tour To Promote His Memoir
Bono’s upcoming tour won’t feature U2 and won’t have a new album to promote it. Instead, he will be promoting his upcoming memoir “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story,” which will be released on November 1.
The 62-year-old superstar will perform in 14 locations in November, beginning on November 2 at the Beacon Theatre in Manhattan and concluding on November 28 at the Teatro Coliseum in Madrid, according to a Monday announcement from Live Nation and Penguin Random House.
“I miss being on stage and the closeness of U2’s audience,” said Bono in a statement released on Monday. “In these shows I’ve got some stories to sing, and some songs to tell… Plus I want to have some fun presenting my ME-moir, Surrender, is really more of a WE-moir if I think of all the people who helped me get from there to here.”
The Orpheum Theatre in Boston, the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, and the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin, the native city of Bono, are some of the venues that will host the concert. Although the U2 frontman’s career has been widely covered in writing, this will be the first time Bono has done so.
The singer’s autobiography, Surrender, will cover his early years in Dublin as a child, including the unexpected death of his mother when he was 14 years old, the success of U2, and his activism against poverty and AIDS.
